One of the best things anyone has ever said about Jim is that "Jim helps people make their dreams come true."

His mission in authoring the many books and creating the many methods is for helping people appreciate their true potential (nearly everyone underestimates their true abilities and potential for greatness) and then pursue and achieve that potential through the processes of setting and attaining goals.

Jim's background is one rich in unique knowledge and abilities to help people get what they want in life.

Jim has helped many people become wealthy and successful and has helped many people start and grow successful businesses. When Jim was in the venture capital business he helped John Hendricks pursue his dream of creating The Discovery Channel. John Hendricks wrote to Jim saying that Jim was "an authority on Goal Power."

Venture America

Jim was co-founder, Managing Partner and CEO of this seed-stage venture capital firm that operated in the Washington, D.C. area for twelve years.

Venture America served as the initial lead investor in starting and launching twenty-three new or early stage business ventures.

Jim led efforts to raise tens of millions of dollars from wealthy individuals and institutional investors for venture capital funds, initial seed rounds, and follow-on equity and debt financings.

He helped create and implement business strategies and plans for portfolio companies.

 

 

The Goals Institute

Jim was co-founder, President, and CEO of The Goals Institute. He has authored and created many leadership and personal growth methods, books, and tools that help organizations and individuals achieve their goals and improve their performance.

He also created the MOSAIC Performance Mastery, Goal-Driven Management, GoalXpress™, SlimWrite™ Weight Loss, methods for business and individual performance improvement and goal achievement.

Jim also was co-creator and co-author of the Keep It Simple for Success® series of books (KISS Books) published by The Goals Institute.

Arthur Andersen

Jim had a sixteen-year career with Andersen in the Washington, DC area and Hong Kong. Jim's final position was Managing Partner of the Northern Virginia office that focused on high technology and rapid growth businesses.

Jim was directly responsible for services to large clients such as Mars Corp. and Marriott, and nearly a hundred other businesses, associations, and not-for-profit organizations. He spent 6 months in the Hong Kong office.

Jim was a partner on the development teams for Andersen’s Auditing Methodology and its Profit Improvement Services methodology. He was in charge of Professional Training for internal associates as well as the Professional Services Training Division in the Washington, DC area. Jim was on Andersen's high technology, small business, retail industry, and profit improvement service teams.

George Mason University

Jim was co-founder and first president (for three years) of the George Mason University Entrepreneurial Institute, Inc. commonly known as The Century Club, a 100-plus member organization that promotes entrepreneurship and grass roots support for university and business relationships.

He was an adjunct faculty member for three years where he created and taught the popular course Developing an Entrepreneurial Mindset.
